1.Ambedkar Social Innovation & Incubation Mission
(ASIIM) launched: launched by Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment.
Objective is to promote entrepreneurship among the SC Youth with special
preference to Divyangs.

2.The Finance Ministry has said that the government will
borrow Rs 4.34 lakh crore in the second half of the current fiscal to meet its
expenditure requirement amid COVID-19 crisis afflicting the country”s economy.
Govt Borrowing is a loan taken by the government and falls under capital
receipts in the Budget document. Usually, Government borrows through issue
of government securities called G-secs and Treasury Bills.

3. The new BrahMos missile Successfully flight tested. It is
a surface-to-surface supersonic cruise missile featuring indigenous Booster and
Airframe Section. The missile was jointly developed by India and Russia and was
first tested in 2001.

4. The National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) has
released the annual Crime in India 2019 report. Uttar Pradesh recorded
the highest number of crimes against SCs in 2019, followed by
Rajasthan and Bihar. NCRB, headquartered in New Delhi, was set-up in 1986 under
the Ministry of Home Affairs to function as a repository of
information on crime and criminals so as to assist the investigators in linking
crime to the perpetrators.

5.  The fire regimes in the Arctic are changing rapidly,
with ‘zombie fires’ becoming more frequent in addition to fires occurring in
the once-frozen tundra. Zombie Fire: It is a fire from a previous growing
season that can smoulder under the ground which is made up of
carbon-rich peat. When the weather warms, the fire can reignite. These are also
known as holdover fires.

6. India’s eight core industrial sectors
contracted by 8.5% in August 2020 compared to August 2019. The
eight core sector industries are coal, crude oil, natural gas, refinery
products, fertilisers, steel, cement and electricity. The Index of
Industrial Production (IIP) is an index that shows the growth rates in different
industry groups of the economy in a fixed period of time. It is compiled and
published monthly by the National Statistical Office (NSO).

7. The International Day of Older Persons (IDOP) is observed
on 1st October (designated in 1990 by the United Nations General
Assembly) every year. The 2020 theme: Promote Decade of Healthy
Ageing (2020-2030).

8. 2nd October 2020 was the 151st birth
anniversary of the Father of the Nation – Mahatma Gandhi. The Swachh
Bharat Diwas, 2020 was celebrated on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti with
the distribution of Swachh Puraskar by the Ministry of Jal
Shakti.

9. The Prime Minister has inaugurated the Atal Tunnel
in Himachal Pradesh’s Rohtang, which connects Solang Valley near
Manali to Sissu in Lahaul and Spiti district. The 9.02-km tunnel
is the longest highway tunnel in the world above the height of 3,000
metres.

10. The second edition of Exercise Bongosagar,
bilateral naval exercise between India and Bangladesh, is scheduled to
commence in Northern Bay of Bengal on 3rd October 2020.

11. Recently, a successful trial of the
nuclear-capable Shaurya missile was conducted by India. Shaurya is a land
variant of short-range Submarine Launched Ballistic Missile (SLBM)
K-15 Sagarika, which has a range of at least 750 kilometers. It is a surface-to-surface tactical
missile. These have been indigenously developed by Defence
