Hi everyone, my game has a couple different collectible types (peanuts, hazelnuts, coins) and currently only one of them is useful because it can be used to unlock new outfits. The hazelnuts and peanuts are purely just a number to see how many you’ve collected. Most games that I play connect the collectibles to other gameplay systems (unlock new areas, items, upgrades, etc) but I don’t really want to add new systems just to make the collectibles more useful. Would it be fine to have collectibles that are simply there because they’re satisfying to collect? I know some older 3d platformers that do have collectibles without any additional purpose but I feel like it’s not very common anymore. I’d really appreciate your thoughts.
