Burj al Babas Dream Castle Ghost Town Turkey

This isn’t a future Disney theme park under construction, just Burj al Babas, a residential village built in north-western Turkey, in the provincial district of Bolu, approximately 3-hours driving from Istanbul. There’s over seven hundred castle-like buildings, each identical to the other, but are completely uninhabited due to the high inflation and the country’s economic crisis that have negatively impacted its real estate market. This area includes about 300,000 square meters of surface close to a wooded area that was partly demolished to allow the construction of the 732 real estate units and the large shopping center organized in avenues, streets and squares which. The villas were priced between 260,000 and 440,000 Euros and designed to resemble a French Neo-Gothic style inspired by the Château de Chenonceau in the Loire, complete with cylindrical towers and dormer windows.
